Short answer: £450 to over £2,000, depending almost entirely on door type and insulation. Here's the actual breakdown, not just a range.
£450–£700 supplied and fitted. The cheapest option, and a genuinely reasonable choice if your driveway has clearance for the outward swing.
£750–£1,100. Costs more than up-and-over but removes the clearance problem entirely and insulates better.
£600 uninsulated up to £1,800–£2,200 fully insulated, the widest range of the three door types.
More detail on each type is on our up-and-over, sectional, and roller pages.
Size. A double garage opening needs more material and heavier-rated hardware than a single, that's the single biggest factor after door type itself.
Insulation. A foam-filled insulated panel costs noticeably more to manufacture than a plain steel sheet. Worth it if the garage adjoins living space or gets used as a workshop, less so for pure car storage.
Automation. Adding a motorised opener typically adds £150–£350, less than most people expect once it's bundled with the door itself.
Finish. Premium finishes, woodgrain effects, non-standard colours, cost more and sometimes take longer to source than standard white or anthracite grey.
Frame and opening condition. A straightforward like-for-like swap is cheaper than a job where the opening itself needs squaring up or repairing first.
If you're weighing a repair against a full replacement, repairs are a different scale entirely, most run £80–£350 depending on the fault. A spring or cable replacement rarely justifies a full door replacement on cost alone unless the door has other structural issues too. A lot of the price spread you'll see between companies isn't about quality, it's about what's included. Some quotes exclude disposal of the old door, or price the base door and add automation as a surprise extra once you've committed. Ask what's actually included before comparing two numbers directly, the cheaper-looking quote sometimes isn't once you add back what it left out.
Almost always cheaper to repair a specific fault. Replacement makes financial sense when multiple faults are stacking up, or the door is structurally compromised rather than just worn.
The ranges above are supplied and fitted. Always confirm this explicitly with any quote, some suppliers price the door alone and fitting separately.
Most calls booked before early afternoon get a same-day slot. No callout fee if we carry out the repair.
